Hello month number 7, this month feels as though it has come round so fast and I can’t quite believe how quickly this year is flying by. Before we know it Emelia will be turning one and entering her toddler year! I've said it before though, I am absolutely loving watching all the new developmental stages and new things she seems to be learning on a daily basis. I write this with a huge smile on my face because she's a little character and makes me laugh so much! Aren't children just the funniest little things, and most definitely the sunshine on a cloudy day.

Emelia seems so much more mobile this month, and is making a real effort to get herself on the move. She crawls backwards and moves herself around in the seated position to reach for toys, and  does try her best to get herself from sitting, to the crawling position. She is still a bit hesitant at the moment though, and I think she worries she will face plant the floor. So instead kind of hovers on her knees for a while with a worried look on her face before going for it or just sitting back down! I dont think it will be long till she grasps the crawling properly though and then I really will need eyes in the back of my head.

We’ve continued with the 3 meals a day, and they are still going down really well. It seems that she really enjoys her meal times and gets excited when I put her in the highchair, or she sees me preparing food in her little bowls. Since we have been doing 3 meals, her milk feeds have decreased. During the day she tends to just have a maximum of 3 feeds, and if we are out and about this will only be 2. She is way too distracted to sit still and have a feed and will turn around if she can hear people talking or will just generally want to know whats going on around her if we aren’t in a quiet environment. So to be honest I just don’t tend to try, and If I know she needs the feed I will use a quiet feeding room or feed in the car just so it ends up being an affective feed rather than a waste of time! She is also so much more aware of what people are doing around her and I think this goes hand in hand with being more mobile. She's able to swivel her little head around and move herself to see things better which she couldn’t before. She uses this to her advantage and watch what everyone is up to. This just means she doesn’t miss a trick. If people are eating around her she wants in on it. If people are having a conversation she wants to listen. And this is the same for toys she actively chooses which ones she wants to play with and if theres a mobile phone or tv remote near by she wants it! She loves other children too and will smile and try and reach out to them she is quite a hand grabber at the moment though and screws up my face in her little hands so I’m always watching to make sure she’s being careful!

We went away on our first little holiday during this month. Emelia’s routine is pretty well established and I think this helped make the holiday more enjoyable because we could plan around her day. she loved the swimming pool which we expected, and because we had a couple of milder days the park was really good for wearing her out. We have often spoken about heading abroad on a family holiday but actually this was a lovely relaxed alternative which wasn’t remotely stressful. It was lovely for Reggie to spend some proper quality time with Emelia also as with his hours some days he barely sees her.

One main change this month is Emelia has started saying words. I am not 100% convinced wether they are what they are, or wether she is just sounding out different sounds. However, so far we have had “mama” “dada” and “baba”. She will be chatting away and drop these words in occasionally! Its pretty cute listening to her, and hearing this little blossoming voice ! I’m certain she is definitely going to be a little chatterbox.

This months favourites :

playing supergirl flying with daddy !
Pear and apricot semolina pudding.
