4 month update

So here we are at 4 months, and it's been a busy 4 months that's for sure. Emelia has cut her 1st 2 teeth ! She certainly got her two front teeth in time for christmas! We have been perfecting the art of sitting and we are basically there all be it slightly wobbly at times, and when she gets bored she just drops herself back. Queue mummy's heart in mouth. But other than that she sits up with her back so so straight ! Near to the end of this month we had our first taste of baby rice (it went down a treat !) I will do a separate post on our weaning journey as we progress.

So first things first the teeth ! They honestly just appeared from nowhere, if you have read my Sleep regression post you will know our struggles with sleeping and how after these two little pearlys came through things became a lot easier. Well the teeth are growing through so quickly and they look so cute ! If teeth could ever be cute. She doesn't seem overly bothered now they have cut through, she just occasionally runs her tongue over them I guess it must feel strange to suddenly have these hard stumps appear from nowhere. I don't know why I was so supprised to see them to be honest, but I guess it was a relief in a way to finally reach a conclusion to our crisis! I'm pretty sure now that her bottom 2 teeth are here, that the top two will follow in quite quick concession.

So in a way because of Emelia being so clingy whilst suffering bad with the teeth, I feel we have created a whole new issue. Getting her to settle once again has become so so hard with bedtime getting so so late some nights, so we are in the middle of trialing a new bedtime routine that I am praying will work! I was even considering putting her into her own room but because of feeding I just think at the moment is easier for us. I think because she was so out of sorts with her teeth and so cuddly she's just got use to being snuggled next to us in the evenings aswell, so we are going back to basics !

Her hand eye coordination has become so so good I love watching her play and sometimes she just looks at her listle hands and fingers and watch how they work. It is pretty amazing the amount of growing and changing children do in this early stage. She's still not overly interested in tummy time, and tends to just grunt and gets frustrated rather than trying to push herself up at all! I'm still so sure she will go from sitting to walking, and not bother with crawling when the time comes to it. I also can’t believe how much she has found her little voice ! she makes the funniest sounds ever babbling away to herself or us. When she’s angry she also makes the strangest growly noises, she really knows how she’s using her voice, and for what emotion. The other night she was layed in her cot “growling” Reggie shot out of bed turned the lights all on and proceeded to google “is my baby possessed !” To be honest she did sound pretty scary!

As it was the run up to christmas we spent loads of time doing festive things. I know its not something Emelia will ever be able to remember, but its great to be able to look back at all the pictures (and at all the festive novelty outfits we dressed us in hehe!). I have to say starting these traditions now whilst she’s still so young is just as much fun for us! Its felt so magical this christmas too as the whole country experienced a really good snowfall, I guess the kid in me just thought it was really special! At 4 months she is comfortably in 3-6 month clothing and her hair is growing back really well on the sides where it rubbed off before. At 4 months Emelia is still in the pram part of her pushchair, and still fits in it really comfortably. We have the bugaboo chameleon and the bassinet does seem a lot bigger than other prams on the market. This was one thing that really swayed me with this pushchair. The week before Christmas we visited a farm and my friend let me use her caboo baby carrier. It was my first time using a carrier and Emelia really liked it. Ive used it a few times since, when we have been out walking and really like it. I wish I had used one when she was really tiny but I am so clumsy and the thought of wearing one with her in whilst so small terrified me! She even fell asleep in it on the last walk we went on (after I had to take it off and on about 5 times because I couldn’t work it out ! I have to say its pretty easy I’m just forgetful!) also if it looks wrong in the picture I am no baby wearing genius to be honest I don't know a lot at all ,it was comfy to wear though and Emelia was comfy , hence her sleeping!

Favourite things:

Iggle piggle (in the night garden music)
Grabbing people's faces ! painful
pretending everything is a jumperoo when you pick her up
