I thought I would give you guys a little run down as to how our fab day with Nûby went last week. For anyone who didn’t know I was invited by Nûby to their Press Event day and Lunch for the showcasing of their 2018 collection. It was a child friendly event which was great because it meant I could take Emelia. We travelled to London by car and parked at westfield shopping centre. Once parked we then took the tube to Convent Garden. For my first trip by tube with a baby it was actually really stress free! The Event was being held at “the ice tank” which is directly behind the Shaftesbury Theatre. When we arrived at the event we were given our passes and introduced to Maria the director of the company and also some of the other Nuby team members. What stood out the most was how lovely everyone was, and it was so so nice to attend such a friendly down to earth event. During the Event talk we sat down and enjoyed a glass of prosseco with a few canapays. Nuby is a Family run baby accessories brand which has been established in the uk since 2010. They have won numerous prestigious awards for their products and are number 1 for their teethers. And from having a baby who has teethed from 2 months old I can vouch their products really really do work!!! Our first Nuby purchase were the Icy Bites keys and even at such a young age these really helped to provide comfort. I think because they do a really good variety of different style teethers there is something that is suitable for every baby’s needs and age, rather than just a standard style. Nuby as a brand are super fun and completely appeal to children with their fab prints and designs. The 3 new ranges were introduced to us through a show for the little ones. It was really good and even the adults enjoyed it! This kept the children engaged and not bored so we as parents could enjoy the event (and prosseco!). After the show we were shown the products downstairs which were displayed. I absolutely love the Changing bags they are so practical with the rucksack design and multiple pockets for keeping the bag organised and tidy. And the one we have matches our pram!! Their New baby shower gift set range is so beautifully designed in a stylish grey and white theme. It includes all things to kick start your parenting journey and more! It also gives you that little bit of help when it comes to choosing that all important special gift for someone expecting a baby with their 5 gift sets. You can guarantee that your getting them something that will be used over and over again because they look so nice, and will last because the items are all made to such a high quality. I love that the items can all be brought separately as well if you just like a specific product. The Little Gems Birthstone Uber dummies were also released this year. The range is a 0-18 month orthodontic dentist approved range and these specially designed gemstone editions have a jewel for each month. Throughout the year Nuby is going to release the meanings behind each gemstone so look out on their page to see what your month means! I love the idea of the last range and I think the thirsty kids concept is really good. It’s all about ensuring children are drinking enough water day to day but in a fun and playful way. Emelia is 10 months and because her milk intake has slowed right down during the day, I now always have a cup/beaker of water on hand ready for her to have, and I offer it to her very regually to ensure she doesn’t get dehydrated. The range is suitable right from 6 months upwards and the cups are fun designed with a clear plastic so parents can monitor intake. And Nuby’s idea to turn it into a fun game has had really good results from real mums struggling with keeping their little ones hydrated. Something I will definitely try with Emelia as she gets older!!
We really did have such a lovely day with Nûby and it was great to see all of the new pieces in the ranges. Before we left the event We received 2 goody bags to take home. The first one included an Item from all 3 new ranges. And the second a bath toy for Emelia. Which I know she will love as she gets older!

So I was always very much under the impression that going Eco would be an expensive choice, and that investment is needed to benefit from what Economical products have to offer. However, since researching new products on the market it really isn't an expensive choice at all and in the long term can save you a lot of money! Fact. So why wouldn't we choose to do this ? I mean surely if companies chose to make more of the eco friendly products people would just automatically start to choose them over the less economical items out there. So with regards to what products can be switched up to minimise waste. Well just about everything! The thing is that in this modern day and age there is just about everything baby related, and a disposable alternative to that item for convenience purposes for parents to use. I love them! I am a complete disposable user as its quick and easy and requires minimal amount of effort. These items are super handy for situations when you are out of the house but why do we NEED to use these products everyday in our homes if there is a non disposable reusable and eco alternative. This is something that can make a massive difference so I am going to try to make a start somewhere!
How I started: I began with making a list of all the disposable items I use everyday and then wrote what reusable I could swap it for this just gave me a bench mark to start with and source what items I may need if I didn't have them already. (Baring in mind that there are actually quite a few reusable items I already use there are still a lot I needed to change up and most were what I used on Emelia) My list is below. Straws for my smoothies- I use 1 a day ! .. you can buy cutlery straws but i'm going to just stop using them. Water bottles- If I am out and about I just buy a bottle but Ive brought a re fillable bottle that I can take with me when I'm out (and save money) Nappies- Cloth Nappies for the time being I am going to continue with disposables but change Emelia's swim nappies to reusable which we use anything from 1-3x a week. Wipes for nappy changes- I'm currently unsure what Item to use in replace to water wipes which is what we've always used on Emelia. I'm going back to good old organic cotton wool and water. No binders no parabins or chemicals . Wipes for after meals- Flannels (obviously different ones to body wash flannels) or just rinsing hands in sink. Or in Emelia's case bathing. Nappy bags- Whilst still using disposable nappies I'm putting wet ones straight in the bin outside. Any parent will know that Dirty nappies are a law of there own and they just need to be dealt with however you can! Freezer food bags- I started using so many freezer bags day to day. To put little snacks in for when we are out to batch cooking. But I have been going through so so many and they cost. So I am re organising the freezer and making way for more reusable boxes to store batch cooked meals. Our Nuby Freezer tray is a great batch cook item to use aswell due because its lidded so it can be stored safely and economically. And I'm going to use small lidded pots for Emelias snacks. We dont need to be using that many. Well I'm putting it to the test and giving it a go ! I can't promise that this is something that we will 100% be able to continue and I will be using reusable whilst we are out and about. However, our experiment is underway and in this new series of blog posts I will review and share new ideas that may be helpful to some of you. Stay posted because You never know I may become completely converted! Robyn x |
